Film Review - The Princess Bride

 The Princess Bride

In out second film lecture we watched The Princess Bride. Our lecture was on The 12 Jungian Archetypes.
These Archetypes are:
The Ruler
The Artist
The Sage
The Innocent
The Explorer
The Rebel
The Hero
The Wizard
The Jester
The Everyman
The Lover
The Caregiver.
Whilst watching the movie I pointed out a few of these archetypes that I could spot in the movie.

The Trickster was Vizzini, Sicilian Criminal, Bully and Mastermind. Hired by Prince Humperdinck to kidnap Buttercup and kill her and to leave evidence to frame Guilder of the murder so that Humperdinck can declare war.

The Hero was Westley. He has a heart of gold and talent to match that of a Hero. He comes out on top in the end and is one half of the Happily ever after duo (Westley and Buttercup (the lover)) Westley shows he is a true hero when he does all he can to save Buttercup.

Although very different from movies I would normally watch. This movie was fun and also comedic. I enjoyed it.
